Dirty Martini

A prohibition era twist on the classic martini, the dirty martini adds that little extra to your martini experience.

Today, the dirty martini is celebrated for its savory twist on the classic recipe, showcasing a blend of tradition and innovation that continues to resonate with cocktail enthusiasts.

Whether preparing a drink at home or hitting your local steakhouse for a meal, a dirty martini is the perfect cocktail when you want to exude class while getting your buzz on.

Ingredients

– 2 oz gin or vodka

– 0.5 to 1 oz dry vermouth (to taste!)

– A splash of olive brine (to taste!)

– Olives for garnish (bleu cheese optional, iykyk)

– Cocktail shaker

– Ice

– Martini glass

Directions

  1. Chill your martini glass: Place your martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.
  2. Add ingredients to cocktail shaker: Add gin or vodka, vermouth, and olive brine to shaker and fill with ice.
  3. Shake or stir: While we prefer shaking, both options produce a wonderful cocktail. If shaking, secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill and mix. If stirring, use a bar spoon to stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds.
  4. Pour your drink: Remove the martini glass from the freezer or discard the ice water. Use a strainer to pour the cocktail into the chilled martini glass, leaving the ice behind.
  5. Garnish: Thread two (or better yet, three) green olives onto a toothpick and place them in the glass as a garnish. Try bleu cheese stuffed olives for an extra hit of delicious savoriness.
  6. Enjoy! Your first homemade martini is quite the accomplishment. Now try again, tweak the ingredients, and find your perfect dirty martini recipe.
